About Summerhill Heights Vineyard
Summerhill Heights Vineyard sits on the edge of the Banks Peninsula, elevated above the patchwork of the Canterbury Plains, looking over towards the Southern Alps of NZ. With north facing slopes, Summerhill Heights’ microclimate of warm, dry days and cooler nights, combined with a long ripening season, and a soil of mineral rich volcanic loam over clay, producing premium fruit that can be made into world class Pinot Noir. And with a passion held as a lifelong dream, these modern boutique style vineyard owners, have done just that. With a palate of red/black cherry, laced with notes of exotic spice and pepper, smoky volcanic undertones, supported by a firm spine of earthy tannins, this Pinot Noir will please. Family owned and run, there is a romance in living amongst the orderly vines, and watching the long, slow dusks fade over vines that have brought people together, to work, to connect, and enjoy each other. SUMMERHILL expresses the sunny vineyard setting; HEIGHTS means a high place or position; the point at which something is at its best or strongest. And Summerhill Heights vineyard is placed for the perfect view of the Kahu (Harrier hawk) as it silently flies above the plains and local wetlands in a gentle rocking glide interspersed with lazy wing beats. Crafted with passion and pleasure, purpose and result, Summerhill Heights Pinot Noir will not disappoint.
