SHV sits on the edge of the Banks Peninsula, elevated above the Canterbury Plains, looking out towards the Southern Alps of NZ. With north facing slopes, SHV is positioned in a microclimate of warm, dry days and cooler nights, combined with a long ripening season, and a terroir of mineral rich volcanic loam over clay that produces premium Pinot Noir. The single vineyard wines are naturally farmed with organic principals, handcrafted un-fined and unfiltered, with little intervention allowing the savoury volcanic tones of Banks Peninsula. Family owned and run, there is a romance in living amongst the orderly vines, and watching the long, slow dusks fade over vines that have brought people together, to connect, and enjoy the atmosphere.  The name reflects the essence of our vineyard: SUMMERHILL captures the sunny setting, while HEIGHTS represents the high position where everything is at its best and you can witness the graceful flight of the Kahu (Harrier hawk) above the vines and views. Crafted with passion, purpose, and outstanding results, our wines are sure to exceed your expectations.
